Last month for my birthday one of my friends spoiled me with the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette - something I'd been lusting over but could never bring myself to buy. Some of my hesitations concerned the four lighter shades that seemed questionable when it came to the "Will this show up on my skin?" dilemma. However after seeing loads of people make beautiful everyday looks from it I thought it'd be nice to have especially for a low-key school look just to spruce things up just a little. I've found that Venus (the lightest and only shimmery shade) is a phenomenal inner corner color that really accentuates the matte-ness of the rest, which gives the eyes a little more dimension. Foxy (the second, yellow-based shade) is probably my skin tone in a shadow. It literally just cancels everything out, makes my eyelid look smooth, and is a nice base if I were to emphasize with liner. Walk of Shame (the third, pinky nude) deepens my lid just a little bit, and adds a barely-there hint of color while I use Naked 2 (beige taupe) to create shadow in the crease and Faint (the camel brown) along my lower lash line. Crave is the go-to black liner shade since I'm not bold enough to wear black shadow all over. This is my first time trying Urban Decay and the creaminess of the shadows is ridiculous. Not to mention the A+ pigmentation. I've become a believer of the matte shadow and the look I've been rocking since Christmas break is Venus in the inner corner and brow highlight, either Foxy of W.O.S. all over the lid (depends on my mood), Naked 2 in the crease, Faint on the lower lash line, and Crave on the upper. Add some mascara and any lip shade and I've got the perfect amount of emphasis on the eye. Final thoughts? This palette has quickly become one of my go-to everyday items and I cannot be happier with the results.
