L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain, Rose On and On

When I want to go for a lighter tint of color on the lips but not completely wash them out I usually grab this little golden tube by L'Oreal. The Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain is a lower-end alternative to the YSL Glossy Stains, though the packaging might may you question the label "lower-end." I love how pretty the golden case is because it makes the product feel more luxurious even with the drugstore price tag. The color I've got here is Rose On and On and as you can see it is a soft bubblegum pink color. As first I expected it to be a little brighter because it looks quite opaque in the tube, but I'm actually glad it's more subtle because it's very suitable for everyday wear. I'm not a big fan of lip gloss and I don't always feel bold enough to wear lipstick so this is the perfect on-the-go lip color that brings out a nice flush to my lips and life back to my face (that misses the sun this summer because the darn fog never lifts here!) without looking overly done up.

The texture of the wet shine stain surprised me because it goes on very... well, I guess the only adequate word for it is wet. It's not a bad thing, though, because it's actually sort of refreshing. After a few seconds it starts to get tackier but not at all "sticky" like some glosses tend to be, and the color sets in a little bit more. True to its claim as a stain, the color does last a surprisingly long while even though I've got a lighter shade. Overall it's very easy to apply with the oversized doe-foot applicator and I'm more pleased with the color than I initially expected!
