What's in my bag?

I've never done one of these before, but I suppose there's always a time to jump on the bandwagon, so I thought I'd show you what's in my bag today. I used to be absolutely devoted to my gigantic faux leather tote I scored at Urban Outfitters many moons ago, but the combination of the strap wearing to threads and my wanting to upgrade to a more mature wardrobe, I shed my teenage bag(gage) for a more grown-up selection of accessories. With that, I've downsized to a more manageable load and now my everyday purse is filled with the perfect bunch of little goodies.

First of all, let me introduce my lovely leather handbag. I'm not really a bag person and only own a select few hand-me-downs from my momma and carry my trusty Longchamp everywhere, but I knew I couldn't leave my beloved Italy without an Italian leather bag, and this is a Gianni Chiarini number I fell in love with at first sight and splurged on at their flagship store in Florence. I'm aware that this color is one of those love-or-hate shades, but I for one am quite a fan of this chartreuse color. It's more muted and wearable than a neon, and not a yellow or a green; it adds the perfect amount of manageable color to my extremely monochrome wardrobe. The size is perfect to just sling around my shoulder and the shape is simple and classic so it will last me a lifetime.

Now for the contents: I'm a changed woman and I've gone from carrying around the kitchen sink to just bringing the essentials. When my momma came to visit me in Rome we went on a little shopping spree to commemorate our mother-daughter trip, and I picked up this gorgeous Miu Miu Matelassé wallet I've been lusting over for years. It is my first real designer piece of anything and at first I was scared to even use it, but it just feels so special and I will cherish it forever as a reminder of our time traveling through Italy and my one memento from Rome. Of course I cannot leave the house without my iPhone (I got the adorable floral polka dot case for sale at J.Crew), simple shades from BP Nordstrom with a case my momma made, and a lip gloss -- my current pick is NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait. I've also started carrying around a small Moleskine notebook and a pen to jot down notes, doodles, and quotes that I find as a little inspiration journal. Now, you may as why there is a spoon in the photo... My friend alway carries an emergency spoon he snuck from New Zealand in his pocket, claiming that you never know when you'll need it. He nicked one for me while we were traveling together in Athens, so keep it in there in case I come across any "dire situations."

I know it's not too exciting of a "what's in my bag," but it just makes me happy to carry this purse around with me everywhere. I know not everyone has a spoon in their bag, but is there anything special/interesting you carry in yours?

  2. Both the wallet and the bag are really pretty! And I suppose having a spoon actually can be very useful sometimes, haha. You've got such a lovely blog, by the way!

  4. Both the bag and content are lovely! You really carry around, the very essentials.
I always used to carry around a small notepad, just in case, but I rarely used it. Recently, I figured I should really write down bits of ideas, even if they don't make sense at the moment. Later I may appreciate it.
On the other hand, the only time I needed a spoon was at starbucks when I really wanted to eat the cream on top instead of blending it in my coffee :)
