Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain: Barcelona Nights

I've noticed these pretty little packages in the drugstore just taunting me to take them to the register, but I held off because I have way too many lip products that I use a few times and then forget about to justify another naughty purchase. However, I'm putting together a birthday goodie box for my friend and I couldn't pass up an opportunity to splurge a little myself when I picked one of these new Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains up for her and an additional one for me because Revlon products were BOGO 50% off in CVS.

I decided to try out the gorgeous pinky-red shade Barcelona Nights. First off, love the name. It's perfect since the color reminds me of the lively, vibrant vibes in the whimsical seaside city. The packaging is a 10/10 and right up my alley with the sleek corners and black accents. The large doe-foot applicator picks up a good amount of product and glides over the lips. The one things that got me about this though, is the texture. Upon first application it was a bit gloopy and patchy, and I couldn't tell if I was actually getting product on the middle of my lip. With a little smacking around I finally got a semi-even coat. The surprise was, about 10 minutes later it seemed to smooth out completely and looked soft and semi-glossy. It reminds me of a slightly thicker formulation of the L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lip Laqcuers. The color isn't as scary as it looks in the packaging (I was a bit relieved because as much as I love this, if it were more of a liquid lipstick I would probably wear it less regularly) and is actually quite wearable. I still need to work all of the application kinks out, but I do like the non-sticky softness of the Moisture Stain and the overall impression it gives. I don't think I will be shelling out nine more dollars to stock up on the other shades but I do like the idea of this as an easy pop of color for a casual summertime stain. Have you tried the new Colorstay Moisture Stains? What are your thoughts -- yea or nay?

  1. I've not tried any of these yet, but I really want to. They look so easy to wear, and there are so many pretty shades. I want the LA Exclusive shade xx

    1. I think I was just initially disappointed because they've been hyped up so much and I was expecting so much more smoothness, but I've gotten past that and get along quite well with it now.

    1. Thanks so much! It's a bit outside of my usual comfort zone for everyday wear but I think I'm feeling more confident in it x

  5. This looks so good on you! Often times I find gloss a bit intimidating but I have to agree that this product looks very wearable.

  10. I've seen these Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains on lots of girls and they look amazing on each of them. I need to get my hands on the coral shade.

    1. I went back and forth between this and the coral, but figured this'd be more appropriate as a summer/fall transition shade. If I were to try another one out, it would probably be that one!
