Avocado & Oatmeal Mask

As a graphic designer I'm snobbish about product packaging and have the worst case of dismissing products because the garish colors and cheap design job make the product look unreliable. However, I am here today to declare that you definitely should not be too quick to judge a product by its packaging. I originally set out to look for Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask but couldn't find it anywhere, and instead came home with this green glory, suckered in by the 2 for $7 deal on Freeman's facial mask products. Freeman's Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask promises to deep clean and purify pores -- just what I need when I'm  feeling clogged up and really oily (yuck).

It comes out of the tube this scary green color and has an interesting floral-y scent I can't quit put my finger on. I smear it on all over and wait for it to dry (about 10 min), during which time it tightens, smooths out, and makes me feel like I have insta-Botox (not to mention the strong desire to belt Defying Gravity at the top of my lungs). A warm water rinse once it's all dry reveals super smooth and un-oily skin, leaving my face looking bright and radiant. It's some serious business if I can notice in my awful college apartment lighting. I am so pleasantly surprised with how well this product works, especially on my combination skin (oily + eczema = wtf). It really makes my pores less noticeable and clears everything out without over-drying. I now use this about twice a week to keep my skin feeling fresh and fine! I also picked up their brown sugar charcoal mask that I'm excited to try, but for now I'm really enjoying getting my Elphaba on (and will most definitely repurchase this mask for the all-around experience).

  3. I have a tendency to judge products by the packaging too. I just can't help it! This sounds amazing though. I have weird combination skin too, oily and sensitive at the same time.
