Home Is Where The Hauls Are From

Going home to my parents' house (weird to call it that, but I do actually live away at university for most of the year) always means good food, family bonding, and shopping enough to last me through the next several months without access to a car, department stores, and free time. I spent a couple of afternoons wreaking havoc in Target with my friends, twiddling around Marshall's with mama, and figuring out what to use my $3.50 off $10+ purchase coupon (which I actually forgot to show at the register... whoops) on at ULTA and ended up with a satisfying haul to bring back to reality my apartment after my super mini 6 day "stay-cation" at home.

I think I got my hands on a good mix of things I was meaning to try, starting with my MAC eyeshadow in Sable. I'm so utterly obsessed with this I won't ramble on about it now - blog post with swatches to come! I also finally found the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush at my local ULTA (they never had it in stock the last few trips I've made there) and also decided to pick up the Blush Brush while I was there because the e.l.f. one I got a while ago just isn't as great as I once thought. Additionally, even though I have way too many lip products for my own good (based on how rarely I actually use them and reapply when I do) I was sucked into Target's slightly cheaper prices and got a Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel, which I was meaning to compare with lip butters, and a new Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie (welcome to the family, 5th lip butter child). While there I also picked up an extra CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume mascara in Waterproof Very Black - I actually had to return the value pack I got because I realized it wasn't waterproof, and seeing as the rainy season is bound to hit sooner than later I had to get it exchanged. Lastly, as I wandered through Marshall's with my mama we came across an adorable jewelry stand and I was first drawn in by the telltale pink Betsey Johnson tags on the earring rack before noticing that there was a full display of these BCBGeneration affirmation bracelets! I had seen a couple YouTube beauty gurus haul these a few months back and thought they were so adorable, but I never buy accessories over $10 (and they were $18 per piece full price). I fell in love with this one because, one, it's rose gold and perfect for stacking, but two, because "Amor" is love but I first saw it from the back and thought it said "Roma," which is where I'm going to be going in a few months! Cheesy, I know, but I had to have it, and at $7.99 I think this statement bracelet is a steal! Overall I'm very satisfied with my haul, but I think I'll have to go on another no-buy now...

  5. Great haul Natalie - you've picked up two of my favourite Real Techniques brushes and your life will never be the same again after using them!!

I'd be interested to hear more about the Maybelline Colour Whispers as I'm not sure they've arrived here in the UK yet (or maybe I've just missed them!)

  6. Haha. Lip butter child! I totally get that, up to 4 now myself. You should update on how you like the whisper in Rebel Petal. Heard a lot about that one and I think it is in their magazine advertisement, but wanted to see it in "real" life first.
