MAC Eye Shadow, Sable

Ladies and gentlemen, I've finally done it. In all of my excitement I've tweeted, Instagrammed, and mentioned it several times on my blog, but after almost 21 years of existence I have finally gotten my hands on my first ever MAC product! MAC is one of those staple makeup companies that everyone and their mother shops at (literally -- I also had to pick up foundation for my mama whilst I was there and the lady helping me looked at me strangely because that was definitely not my color), but I always thought I'd get by with drugstore alternatives and couldn't bring myself to pay $15 for an eyeshadow if I could find a dupe by CoverGirl... I decided, though, that instead of buying half-price knick knacks I should see if investing in something I really love would be worth it. I also thought it'd be a little treat to myself for interning this entire summer, so I started swatching and researching and decided to take the plunge. After somewhat successfully completeing a several month no-buy I finally went out and bought myself a little treat: MAC Eye Shadow in Sable.

At first I was looking at Woodwinked, as it seems to be a crowd favorite and I always see Zoella wearing it. However, I felt it was be a tad too light for what I was looking for when I went to take a peek at the Bloomingdale's MAC counter a few weeks ago. Instead I perused the eyeshadow section for a while and came across Sable. It's absolute perfection in a pot. I love how velvety and rich the soft taupe is, with a very slight pinky-mauve tinge to it so it warms up the eye area. Next to my hazel peepers the plummy undertones bring out the greens, creating that effortless glow and smoky effect and my eyes literally pop when I add a coat of black mascara. The frost finish leaves such a beautiful, gentle touch and it's neutral enough to wear every day but also medium-dark enough that it'll accentuate and add depth to my eye area. I love the spectrum of soft bronze it covers in the shadow and the light so it'd be perfect to just wear on it's own and still add interest. I looked for reviews and swatches online before making the final decision to purchase but couldn't find all that many, as Woodwinked does seem to be the more popular of the two, but I think this shade is the most gorgeous color and deserves more praise and attention!

    1. I agree!! As pretty as Satin Taupe and Woodwinked and All That Glitters are, I am always attracted to the lesser known ones (:

  9. I have never had any MAC product myself, but my mom loves this brand, she's always getting foundations, eyeshados, lipsticks, etc. That eye shadow color you got looks really awesome, I'm a sucker for neutral colors, I love them, and that color is gorgeous, I might give it a try :)

  13. Ahhh! I keep seeing these neutral/natural color eye shadows I want, but then I remember that I have a lot of eye shadows in those colors and I could probably find a similar color. ):
