Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow, Bad to the Bronze & Barely Branded

I'm sure everyone has already heard a ton about the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24 Hour Cream Eyeshadows because they are literally the most perfect multi-use product. That being said, I'm still going to give my two cents because this is my blog and I can do what I want! Hehe. I've got Bad to the Bronze, a soft shimmery taupe-bronze, and Barely Branded, a champagne-beige color, two of my favorite items in my makeup bag. Both of them are super creamy and easy to blend out either with the finger or using a dense brush. They are also quite buildable so I can create different looks ranging from a sheer wash right over the lid to a more intensified color by packing it on, which I like to do with my fingers in thin layers. Also, as often as I use them I never seems to make a dent in the product! I take them with me whenever I travel because they are easy to apply, give great color payoff, go with anything, and I don't have to worry about them once they're on my face!

Bad to the Bronze is one of my most-used products in my everyday makeup routine. I really like just applying a sheer layer all over my eyelid to give a little bit of shimmer and depth to my eye, but if I'm feeling a bit more bold I'll add some extra to the outer corner and blend it into a daytime smoky look. Most of the time I wear this on its own, though I also sometimes add a darker brown shade in the crease to add more definition. My go-to look is putting this all over the lid, adding a second layer to the crease, and smudging it down into the lower lash line to bring some attention to my eye without looking overdone. It's just so perfect for a neutral eye with just a dash of mascara and some light pink blush over BB cream, but then when I want to wear it on a night out or look polished for an interview it shines as a great darker base to work with. I think this is a color that's universally flattering and I would recommend anyone who hasn't tried any of the Color Tattoos yet to go out and invest in this one -- it'll become an immediate favorite!

Barely Branded was a later release in the Metals collection and is a lighter champagne shade. Before this one there was a limited edition release of a similar color called Barely Beige that I failed to get my hands on so I rushed out right away when I heard this was released because the colors are virtually identical. It reminds me of the lighter MAC paint pots all of the YouTube beauty gurus always rave about. This color is seriously amazing - it goes on really smoothly and I can use it all over my lid for a bit of a brighter look (it's lighter than my skin tone but looks very natural when lightly blended in), as a brow and/or inner corner highlight, or as a more neutral base for applying other shadows. I really like layering NYX True Taupe over this because the cream eyeshadow adds some intensity, staying power, and just a hint of shimmer if my eyeshadow is applied with a light enough hand. It's a great second neutral option to have alongside Bad to the Bronze!

As you can tell, I love both of these and am glad to have both versatile colors in my collection! I'm curious to see what Inked in Pink is like, and perhaps even ready to delve into the scary world of Pomegranate Punk - it just looks so interesting but is a daunting color to try!

  13. I have Bad to The Bronze, Inked in Pink and Pom Punk! They're all lovely and made me set aside my powder eyeshadows. Pom Punk is such a lovely color! I use it when I want to go for a single smoky color.

  21. Bad to the Bronze lives on my lids lately as its so quick to apply when I'm putting make up on on the train (yes I'm one of those people!!). I must look into Barely Branded to try as a base.
