Murano Glass

Apologies for the lack of recent posts and being online in general! I was off on a club retreat this past weekend, got extremely nauseous and sick the second day, and spent Monday sleeping (I literally think I was awake for about 6 hours). That being said, I'd like to move on to happier things in life. One of, if not THE best vacations of my life was a family trip throughout Europe one summer. The moment we arrived via water taxi I immediately connected with the land and my favorite city in the entire world became Venice. Throughout our stay there we visited both Murano and Burano -- one is famous for the colorful glass, and the other the colorful houses. As a memento of our trip I decided to be a little touristy and pick some pieces of Murano glass jewelry to bring back with me. The watch is something completely different from anything else I own -- it's quirky, colorful, and a statement piece even in its smaller size. I know it's a dinky little piece (I'm not even sure if the clock works at the moment, I need to change the battery!) and the seams are coming undone, but I really love the face of the watch with the assortment of floral patterns, and I really want to get a nice sturdy leather band for it so I can wear it for years to come. Along with the watch I also got this beautiful glass pendant. I love how the white brings out the porcelain blues and soft hues of purple. It's such an elegant piece but wearable with so many things. I always get a ton of compliments when I wear this and it's probably my favorite necklace. These pieces are so special to me and remind me of the wonderful trip we had in Europe, they bring me joy and an appreciation for a beautiful craft. Have you ever been to Italy, or have a piece of Murano glass?

  5. These are so pretty! I want to get to Venice so badly on my travels - but I'm not sure if I can bear to only spend three or four days in Italy. I'd quite like to live there, I think. There's nothing wrong with touristy gifts to yourself - I buy a shit key chain in every new city I visit :) xx

    1. Venice is so beautiful but really small so it's definitely doable in 3 days (I think I spent 4 nights there)! Bahaha, that's awesome, I want to collect something from every place I visit... So far it's been jewelry!
