Benefit Rockateur

It's very rare that I lust over a higher-end beauty product and end up actually purchasing it, but I decided to splurge a little and couldn't help but treat myself to Benefit's newest box powder Rockateur when I stopped by Sephora for the first time in what seemed like ages this past weekend. It's marketed as a "rockin’ rose gold cheek powder" that gives a healthy, dewey flush of color to the cheeks, and boy oh boy is this the most perfect color ever or what!

I first heard about this product months ago on some blogs such as Milkteef and Makeup by Tiffany D, and once it actually released I literally saw it in every single September Favorites video that I watched (ranging from Zoella and FleurDeForce to Meghan RosetteBeyondBeautyStar and ARose186). Most of these beauty gurus wore it in their videos and I knew I could not be satisfied until I had my hands on this little box of beautiful because it is the absolute most gorgeous, perrrrrfect cheek color I could ever ask for. It's a dusty rose gold that isn't a bright pink but rather looks like a healthy flushed sheen on the skin. It looks quite sparkly in the box and swatched for the first time on my finger, but once it's on the skin it magically transforms into this radiant glow and doesn't look artificial at all. If you look closely, the blush is actually made up of two sparkly sections but the middle where "Rock" is embossed is actually matte, so it turns down the scariness a bit. The blush applies like a dream and sits so well on the face, I think it's one of those I-don't-have-to-think-about-it blushes because you can just sweep it on and it'll look gorgeous without having to fuss with having too little or too much pigmentation. The scent is diviiiine as well - similar to Dandelion but slightly sweeter if that makes sense? Not overwhelming in the least though, so don't you worry about sensory overload!

The blush comes with a small brush, typical to all Benefit boxed blushes but this one is sort of tapered, if that's the right word, compared to the older ones. It applied the product well, but I think I'll stick to my trusty Real Techniques Blush Brush. One setback to this blush is the amount of product you get -- only 0.17 oz. compared to the usual 0.25 or 0.28 oz. in their other box powders -- for the same price of $28. Benefit justifies the smaller size by claiming it combines "the best features of baked, powder, cream and fluid textures to give a brighter, purer color pay off creating 1.6 times the amount of pure color payoff," which equals to about the same usage rate as the others. The texture is definitely different from Dandelion, which is the only other one I own. I can tell that this is more finely milled and picks up less on the brush but applies a better wash of color. Overall, I think the beauty of the blush makes up for this and I will trust that I'll get the same usage out of this tinier packaging. I've only had it for a day but I am obsessed with this and am sure it'll become one of my most-used products in no time! Gosh, it even makes me exciting thinking about doing my makeup with this tomorrow morning, which pretty much exemplifies how utterly thrilled I am about Rockateur if my whole gushing post about it didn't express that already... Have you tried Benefit's newest hit yet?

  6. This looks really pretty! I am not a huge makeup wearer and since I have a couple of blushes I probably won't buy it :(

But I love the way it looks! It does look a bit shimmery! Do you find that it wears pretty matte after a few hours?

I am doing this with a few other blogs who are in the same range as me so we can all grow our audience together. Hopefully it will be an amazing way to start the new year.
