Mini Makeup Haul

Well, well, well, what do we have here. This week was beyond stressful as I had three papers, a quiz, and an agency visit, so I had a little "treat yourself" shopping trip in the city with my friend on Friday. I stopped by the drugstore to pick up a new foundation that I'd been meaning to try, and then we hit the mall. I usually plan out my splurges beforehand, but this time we spent a good three hours browsing around Sephora and getting my friend color matched for some new foundation and got some awesome tips from the senior makeup artist. I couldn't help myself from picking up a few bits, justifying it with the thought that I want to look flawless and put together for my upcoming graduation photoshoot and actual commencement ceremony, so why not splurge a little? You only graduate (from undergrad) once, right?

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24 Hr Foundation. I succumbed to the hype of all of the YouTubers who have been raving about this product lately (mostly from ICovetThee's first impression video). I first bought the 3rd shade in the range, Natural Buff, which sounds and looked like the kind of shade I usually get but it was waaay too dark for me. Two more exchanges later I tried both the first and second shades but the lightest was too pale and the next was too pink for my face. I don't think I'll be able to use this foundation, but I'm perfectly happy sticking to my Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation for the time being (one of the girls working at Sephora complimented my skin yesterday, so that's already a boost of confidence and a nod to it's amazing quality!).

The Original Beauty Blender. Speaking of the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless, I love the product but haven't been super happy with how the application has been with my trusty Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I'd been debating whether or not to invest in a Beauty Blender for a while, tempted by the claims for a more natural finish, and finally decided to cave after seeing the makeup artist apply my friend's foundation using one. I tested it out this morning and must say I really do see a difference in application! My foundation has melted into my skin way better than with the brush, and it feathers out nicely towards the edges of my face and into my neck. I'm glad I finally got around to getting this and sporting lighter makeup in the spring and summer.

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil in 4 I Rose You. I'd heard about these first on RachhLoves's YouTube channel but this was my first time seeing them in store and I couldn't help but try it out despite the (slightly) ridiculous price tag. Let me just say, I. Freaking. Love. This. Product. I want to do a full swatch and review soon so I won't go into major detail here, but stay tuned and go try this if you can!

  1. Hahaha the hype arround the L'Oreal Infallible is incredible - I almost bought it the other day but then thought to myself, I have way too many foundation to use up so I didn't pick it up! Also I feel you on the paper-filled week, glad you're done with it now!

  2. Aaah, I swatched the Tint in Oils the other day...DROOLING. I need the orange shade in my life! It sucks that there isn't a shade that suits you in the foundation, it's been getting so much hype!
